Original Item: IMA has obtained a small quantity of Indian fighting knives converted from the Indian 1A Rifle Long Bayonet Version L1 / FN FAL. It is identical to the bayonet except that it has no muzzle ring or latch assembly for securing to the rifle. Like the American M3 knife and the related bayonets, such as the M4, M5, M6, and M7, the 1A knife provides a belt knife for issue to troops who do not carry a rifle (and thus who would not have a bayonet) but who required a general-purpose knife.
The knife includes a steel scabbard and has new wood grips that stand proud like the originals.
