Original Item: Only One Available. Here is a very nice long knife bayonet for the Indian 7.62 mm. NATO caliber 1A selective-fire rifle, an unlicensed variant of the famous FN–FAL rifle. The design was based off the British L1A4 bayonet, designed for the L1-A1, their version of the FN-FAL. India used wooden grip scales as opposed to the stamped metal used by the British.
This example was manufactured by Rifle Factory Ishapore in 1967, as indicated by the ricasso markings: R.F.I. - 67. It is also the longer 10" bladed version, designed to be a more effective fighting knife than the shorter first version. These are quite hard to find, as many later had the bayonet latch removed and the muzzle ring removed to serve as fighting knives. This example is still in the original unaltered configuration, able to be attached to a rifle. The blade has not been cut down, and it comes with its original scabbard, which are very hard to find.
The bayonet has a 10 inch "bowie" style clip-point blade, with a wide fuller running down each side, with an overall length of about 14 inches. Unlike most bayonets, the wooden grip scales wrap completely around the tang. Comes complete with a rare correct scabbard.
In very good condition, this bayonet looks to not have been issued, and still has original arsenal grease on the blade and in the bayonet lock channel. The scabbard shows little to no wear, without any dents.
A great example of a hard to find bayonet, ready to add to your collection!
