Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very interesting sword which we believe to be an Imperial Russian M1826 Cuirassier Trooper’s sword from the Crimean War era. The ricasso appears to bear a Russian maker’s marking that is now far too worn to read. The Russian 1826M sword is clearly a near copy of the French An XIII cuirassier sword. The 38” clipped point blade is in great condition for its age, and still firm to the hilt with the leather blade buffer still intact. The ricasso bears an almost certainly Russian maker’s stamp, with a 1 stamped on the reverse. The spine is stamped 489, either a serial number or rack number, but it appears that previous spine markings may have been worn down at one point. The original wire-bound leather grip is in good order without serious wear to the leather. The original leather finger loop is intact but broken in half. These are almost always just absent. The original painted scabbard is heavily worn with major paint loss. There is moderate denting and the suspension rings are intact. This model took heavy inspiration from the French ANXI and ANXIII Cuirassier sword, as well as the 1809 Cuirassier / Heavy Cavalry sword. A very scarce model of Imperial Russian sword, ready for further research and display.Approximate Dimensions:Blade Length: 38”Blade Style: Single Edged Straight with Double FullerOverall length: 43 1/2“Scabbard length: 39¼”
