Original Item: Only One Available. A kindjal (translated from the Russian Кинжал) is a double-edged dagger often with a single off-set groove on each face of the blade. The shape of the weapon is similar to the ancient Greek Xiphos, the Roman Gladius, or the Scottish dirk; and has been used as a secondary weapon in Georgia and the Caucasus since ancient times.
This presents very nicely and the blade is somewhat older than usually encountered. It appears to be in original configuration and was not remounted like ones so often encountered.
This example has a blade length just under 16" and is 21" in overall length. The blade has a single center fuller to each side. There are no visible markings present, but this is without a doubt a lovely period example.
The kindjal comes with a very nice leather covered wooden scabbard though the brass throat is unfortunately no longer secured. Still it shows significant age, so it was not produced any time in the recent past.
A great example of the classic short sword / dagger of the Caucasian mountain area. Ready to display!
