  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is an exceptionally scarce original Imperial Japanese WWII Type 11 incendiary smoke grenade in heavily worn relic condition. This is only the third Type 11 example we have offered, and it retains its loose fuze assembly together with the removable lower booster component, which is almost always missing from surviving examples.

This grenade has been completely demilitarized and is represented as entirely inert, with no explosive, incendiary, smoke-producing, detonating, or other energetic material present. Unloaded or dummy grenades, artillery shell casings, and similar devices, which are cut or drilled in an BATF-approved manner so that they cannot be used as ammunition components for destructive devices, are not considered NFA weapons. This example is in total compliance and is NOT AVAILABLE FOR EXPORT.

The Type 11 was a Japanese incendiary and smoke grenade used during WWII. Surviving examples are considerably less common than the familiar Type 91, Type 97, and Type 99 fragmentation grenades, making even incomplete relic-condition examples difficult to locate.

This example has suffered extensive oxidation and deterioration. The upper portion of the body is fragmented and incomplete, and the original removable top or fuze cover is no longer present.

The fuze assembly is extremely oxidized and has become loose. It no longer threads securely into the opening at the top of the grenade but can be positioned in place for display. The original safety pin and pull cord are both missing.

The lower booster component remains present and can still be removed from the body. The survival of this piece is especially notable, as it is usually absent from incomplete or battlefield-recovered Type 11 grenades.

The body, fuze, and booster show extensive corrosion, pitting, metal loss, discoloration, and surface deterioration. No attempt should be made to force the fuze into place, clean the interior, restore the threads, or further disassemble the components.

This grenade is sold strictly as a historical collectible and display piece. It should not be handled excessively, as the heavily oxidized metal may continue to flake or deteriorate.

Despite its rough relic condition, the retained fuze and exceptionally scarce removable lower booster make this a particularly interesting example of one of the least commonly encountered Imperial Japanese WWII grenade patterns. It would display well in an advanced Japanese ordnance or Pacific Theater collection.
