Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good, near excellent condition genuine WWII issue Japanese rubberized face mask, with metal rimmed clear lenses. The filter can has a wonderful paper label with instructions still attached. It only has a few stains, and all of the characters can still be seen. There are also markings stamped into the top of the can, one of which is 昭 16, for the 16th year of the Showa era, or 1941. There is also a maker mark. The canister retains its screw cap, making this a good unissued set.
The rubberized canvas mask is still fully intact, and unlike so many we see, it is still soft and pliable! There is a bit of light cracking around the very edge, but otherwise it is quite flexible, with even the eye defogging tubes being springy.
The paper label on the side of the filter is also dated with Showa (昭) 16 for 1941. The straps on the mask appear all present and in good condition, though only one is still stretchy, as the rubber has degraded. Both eyepieces are in good condition, but one of the eyepieces has heavy degradation from age. The included carry bag is in great condition and still retains the original label, but the button to secure the bag closed is gone.
A very nice matched example of a Japanese Gas mask in great shape, dated 1941 and ready to display!
