Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice original set of Imperial Japanese WWII Army binoculars manufactured by Fuji, complete with their tropical canvas carrying case. The binoculars remain fully functional, with independent focus controls for each eyepiece and mostly clear optics.
The binoculars bear the Fuji manufacturer’s logo together with serial number:
No. 49292
They are also marked:
6 x 9.3°
The marking indicates six-power magnification with a 9.3-degree field of view. Comparable Fuji Kogaku binoculars with the same 6x9.3° configuration are documented as Japanese Army equipment from the WWII period.
Each eyepiece has an independent diopter focus adjustment. Both controls operate properly, and the binoculars focus accurately. The optics remain mostly clear and usable, although no claim is made that they have been professionally cleaned, serviced, or optically calibrated.
Overall condition is very good, with strong original painted finish and expected scratches, handling wear, and minor oxidation to the exposed metal fittings. The textured covering on the barrels shows extensive cracking but remains largely present.
The accompanying tropical carrying case is constructed from painted canvas over a rigid body. This lightweight construction was well suited to service in warm and humid climates where traditional heavy leather cases could deteriorate quickly.
The case remains in good condition and retains its original carrying strap, spring-loaded closure strap, closure knob, and well-preserved woven canvas belt loop. The closure materials show expected age and wear but remain present.
The case measures approximately 6 1/2" by 4" by 2".
Japanese binoculars of this type are often described as officer’s field glasses, but no name, rank, or documented provenance accompanies this set to confirm officer ownership. The Fuji markings, military-style construction, tropical case, and surviving serial number nevertheless make this an attractive and representative example of Imperial Japanese Army optical equipment.
The combination of functional optics, clearly marked Fuji manufacture, strong original finish, and complete tropical carrying case makes this a desirable addition to an Imperial Japanese or Pacific War collection.
