Original Items: One-Of-A-Kind. Here we have a wonderful personal photo album with some professional shots as well as personal snapshots, many of which show members of the Imperial Japanese Army often in the field. There are also a good number of company or platoon photographs. These are held in place for the most part by glue, and while a total of eighty photographs may seem like a small amount for an album, we believe that this example is complete and not missing any photographs. The pictures show the beginning of their service, with several shots of Good Luck flags covered in signatures, and a great shot of the album’s owner with his flag attached to the front of his rifle. Many of the photos have captions, making for a great research project!A few of the pictures that stood out to us include a great shot of a soldier preparing a knee mortar for use, a great photo of a soldier standing next to a public display with many good luck flags and banners attached to a post. One photo shows a soldier next to what appears to be a French WWI Renault FT Tank, which is very likely as Japan operated 13 of these tanks during the inter-war period. The album measures 6⅜ x 9¾”, and the cover appears to depict a woman dancing with flora & fauna around her. This is a wonderful album with some amazing and historical images giving us a glimpse into war time Japan! Comes ready to display.
