  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a good crushed original WWII Japanese Army type 98 tropical sun pith helmet. It was crushed, likely during the war as some soldiers & officers preferred to wear them in the crushed form, but still retains its internal bamboo wicker construction. Comes with original pentagonal brass army star insignia pin to the front. The helmet has most of the original suspension system and original chinstrap. Well marked original labels inside with faint kanji characters. Close reading shows a faint 昭 十 九 or Showa 19, for the Western year 1944.

Condition is definitely worn, showing wear around the rim, with overall staining and dirt. This is definitely not a helmet that was sitting on a shell during the war. Despite the crushing, the lining is in great shape as is the chinstrap.

An very nice WWII Japanese battle-worn jungle pith helmet for your WWII collection. Ready to display!
