Original Imperial Japanese Army WWII Type 98 Sun Pith Helmet Painted White with Service Wear
Original Item: Only One Available. This WWII Japanese Army type 98 tropical sun pith helmet is in good condition, and contains original service wear. It still retains its magnificent form with an internal bamboo wicker construction. It comes complete with the original pentagonal brass army star insignia pin on the front. Helmet is lacking the original suspension system, however it still has the original chinstrap. The original label is still inside, but the kanji markings have worn off.
Condition is definitely worn, showing wear around the rim, with overall staining and some soiling. Helmets such as these were known to be soaked with water, so that they would have a cooling effect. This is definitely not a helmet that was sitting idly by on a shelf during the war. It was painted white at some point, probably to better reflect the heat.
A splendid and mostly complete WWII Japanese battle-worn jungle pith helmet for your WWII collection, and ready for display!
