Original Imperial Japanese Army WWII Type 98 Sun Pith Helmet - dated 1943

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good condition original WWII Japanese Army type 98 tropical sun pith helmet. It still retains a wonderful form with internal bamboo wicker construction. Comes with original pentagonal bevo style cloth embroidered army star insignia to the front. Helmet has part of the original suspension system and original chinstrap.

This example is well marked with original labels inside bearing Japanese kanji characters. One of these is marked with the date 昭 和 十 八 年. This would be read: SHOWA (current reigning emperor) Juu-Hachi Nen (18th year of reign - 1943). There is also a white paint stamped character towards the brim.

The condition does show wear consistent with service and storage. The exterior has some staining, and there is slight wear to the yellow star on the front of the helmet. The interior retains the color well, with some discoloration around the brim. The lower suspension band is present with a working buckle with the upper string still in place. It has a complete functional chin strap.

A very nice WWII Japanese jungle pith helmet for your WWII collection. Ready to display!
