Original Item: Only One Available. This is an extremely rare Type 90 Civil defense last ditch helmet, complete with an intact woven fabric & oilcloth liner. The Japanese WWII Civil Defense helmet was the final of four variations of the Type 90 Army helmet and was designed specifically for mainland civil defense. This example has what is likely a factory badge attached at the front with a white recognition stripe painted around the helmet.
Overall condition is very good with correct brown paint, with some minor oxidation on the exterior. The front has a badge applied but we haven’t been able to identify it. There is some overall scuffing, but no dents or any major damage. On the underside of the brim is the painted number 60 which looks to have been scratched to become a 50.
The liner shows wear but is still solid. The chinstrap ties are intact but torn off on one side.
This is an excellent opportunity to pick up a WWII issue type 90 civil defense helmet, a necessity for any Japanese WWII headgear collection.
