  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is an extremely rare Type 90 Civil defense helmet, complete with an intact cloth liner and chin strap. The Japanese WWII Civil Defense helmet was the final of four variations of the Type 90 Army helmet and was designed specifically for mainland civil defense.

Overall condition is very good with correct brown paint, with some overall oxidation on the exterior. The paint job did not adhere very well, allowing the base metal to oxidize, removing more paint. There is some overall scuffing, but no dents or any major damage. There is no badge on the helmet, but there are two painted Kanji on the front center over the liner split pin, and these same two kanji are written on the liner. These look to be 衲屋 or 納屋, but we are not aware of any further meaning. They are most likely markings indicating the district where the helmet was issued.

This is an excellent opportunity to pick up a WWII issue type 90 Tetsubo helmet, a necessity for any Japanese WWII headgear collection.
