Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is an extremely rare Type 90 Civil defense helmet, which looks to have had the badge on the front removed, or never installed. The Japanese WWII Civil Defense helmet was the final of four variations of the Type 90 Army helmet and was designed specifically for mainland civil defense. The steel used is not as sturdy, which explains why this one has a crack on the front. The internal liner is very primitive in design, and there is Japanese writing on the sweatband as well as on the inside of the crown. We have not been able to translate this unfortunately.
Overall condition is very good with correct brown paint. There is some scuffing and a bit of paint loss on the top, but nothing major. The liner looks to be made of light canvas and oil cloth, with a canvas chin strap. There is some staining and overall wear, but it still displays quite nicely.
This is an excellent opportunity to pick up a WWII issue type 90 Tetsubo helmet, a necessity for any Japanese WWII headgear collection.
