Original Imperial Japanese Army WWII Last Ditch Converted Civil Defense Helmet

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Toward the end of WWII Imperial Japan was starved of raw materials and factories. The need to more equipment was dire and the IJA used what was available. This is an extremely rare Type 90 Civil defense helmet which was issued for use in the Imperial Japanese Army hence the addition of the star which was added to the front.

The Japanese WWII Civil Defense helmet was the final of four variations of the Type 90 Army helmet and was designed specifically for mainland civil defense.

Overall condition is excellent with correct brown paint. Inside is a late war cotton mesh liner. The rear inside brim is has a hand painted kanji characters that we are not able to translate. The liner is complete and mounted securely. Also included is the complete original chinstrap.

This is one of the very best examples of this style helmet we have ever encountered. A rare and little known variation of the military issue type 90 Tetsubo helmet making this example a necessity for any Japanese WW2 headgear collection.
