  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice example of the very rare Japanese WWII canvas sling used by paratroopers. This type of sling was used on early Type 99 Arisaka rifles and the famous TERA Type 2 take-down paratrooper rifle, which was based on the Type 99.

The sling has very heavy staining but is still entirely solid without any breakage and the keeper is retained at one end. Both hooks are in good condition with scratching and oxidation. The buckle is in very good shape.

The TERA Rifles (挺進落下傘小銃/挺身落下傘小銃 "Teishin Rakkasan Shoujuu") were special Japanese takedown rifles developed for paratroopers of the Imperial Japanese Army. All designs were capable of either being broken down or folded into two parts and easily assembled or disassembled. There were two prototypes produced, and only one model was actually put into use: The Type 2 based on the Type 99 Rifle. This example Separated into two parts: stock and action, and barrel and sights. It also featured a slightly shorter cleaning rod.

These are very often reproduced but this example has outstanding patina and does appear to have some very faint Kanji stamps on one side, but it’s hard to say for sure due to the wear.

An outstanding sling, the first we’ve ever offered. Ready for further research and display.
