  • Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is the war chronicle service document of Sergeant Karl Geiger, 6th Battery, Field Artillery Regiment Nr. 49. These were put together after the war to commemorate the service of Imperial German soldiers as a reminder of their time serving the empire.

Geiger first served in the regiment from 1907-1909 when conscription was mandatory for men of his age. When the war began, he re-enlisted in the regiment on August 3rd, 1914, one of the earliest enlistments of the war. The document also lists Geiger’s lengthy battle record, including St. Quinten, Yser, Flanders, Passchendale, the Somme, Champagne, Arras, the Meuse-Argonne, and much more. The photo of the soldier in the center shows him wearing a Stahlhelm as well as a ribbon for the Iron Cross 2nd Class.

The frame measures 19½ x 23¼” and is in good condition overall. This is a really great document, one of the nicest we’ve seen. Comes ready for further research and display.
