Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fantastic example of a Mid-War M1910 Schirmmütze Feldgrau Visor Cap as worn by the Technical Troops (Artillerie, Pioniere And Verkehrstruppen) during WWI. The later M1907/1910 version would move to the Feldgrau (Fieldgray) that was seen mostly during the war. The cap constructed of dark gray wool, which was the standard color for all states. It has Ponceaurot (poppy red) wool piping and black band, which indicate that it was for a technical soldier.

The front of the cap bears a Black, White and Red Reichskokarde (Imperial Cockade) on the front of the crown, with a Black and Red Cockade on the cap band for Württemberg. The interior is lined with a polished black cloth, with a light brown oil cloth sweatband. Size is approximately a US 7 (56cm).

Condition is very good, with colors well retained, and just a few areas of moth damage but other than that this cis a very nice example.

The army of the German state of Württemberg (German: Württembergische Armee) was the army of the Kingdom of Württemberg until 1918.

Its troops were maintained by Württemberg for its national defense and as a unit of the Swabian Circle (district) of Holy Roman Empire, the Confederation of the Rhine, the German Confederation and finally of the Imperial German Army. In addition, particularly in the 18th century, there were also regiments that were lent to other dukes and foreign powers. This practice was often criticized as "soldier trading" or "Soldatenhandel"; a form of mercenary service.

When the Imperial German Army was established around the Prussian Army in 1871, the incorporated Württemberg Army remained an independent contingent (like the Bavarian Army and the Saxon Army). It was formed into the XIII (Royal Württemberg) Corps until 1918, mainly comprising the 26th and 27th infantry divisions and the 26th dragoon regiment.
