  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very attractive original Imperial German WWI Württemberg officer’s visor cap attributed to Ulanen-Regt. König Karl (1. Württembergisches) Nr.19, garrisoned at Ulm and Wiblingen and assigned to the XIII Armee Korps. The cap is constructed from fine-quality Dunkelblau wool with a Ponceaurot red wool cap band and matching red piping, a color combination associated with this Württemberg lancer regiment.

The front of the cap retains an officer-style Imperial national cockade at the upper position and a Württemberg state cockade below in black and red. Taken together with the dark blue body, red band, and matching red piping, these features are consistent with the uniform distinctions of Ulanen-Regt. König Karl (1. Württembergisches) Nr.19.

The surface of the visor shows fine age crazing and some flaking. The body of the cap has several small scattered holes. The interior of the cap has a full gold-colored lining and light leather sweatband, both of which show age, fading and expected wear, but the stitching is in great shape.

The interior remains especially complete, retaining its full gold-colored lining and light leather sweatband. Both show expected age, fading, and wear, though the stitching remains in very good condition throughout. The cap is approximately a size 6 ¾.

The combination of the distinctive Württemberg cockades, correct Dunkelblau and Ponceaurot color scheme, complete interior, and officer-quality construction makes this a strong representative example of a WWI-era visor cap associated with one of Württemberg’s traditional Uhlan regiments. Its surviving materials and unit-specific color arrangement provide useful evidence for the study of Imperial German cavalry uniforms and regimental distinctions during the First World War.
