Original Item. Only One Available. This is a tremendous and scarce set of WWI German Rabbit Ear binoculars, the first set of this variation we have offered. This is a very small set of rabbit ears, perhaps the smallest we have encountered. They are very well-marked between the ears to Carl Zeiss of Jena. The serial number, 567566, dates them to around production year 1915-16.
They are in good condition with crystal clear vision and easy focus, and the set retains its original finish. The leather lanyard is complete and in good order as is the wooden handle. The set retains its original neck strap although it is very weak and close to breaking. They measure 9 3/4" inches long, with a 7" handle on the bottom, giving an overall length of 16 1/4" inches.
The original and scarce case is retained, although its carrying strap is broken, and its lid is gone. There is heavy material loss as shown and there is no closure. The case measures approximately 10"H x 5"W x 4 1/2"D.
A really phenomenal set, ready for further research and display!
