Original Imperial German WWI Silver Machine Gunner Matchbox Case with Full Period Matchbox - Roland Hӧlzer

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a lovely piece of soldier kit from WWI, a matchbox case which appears to be made entirely of silver, with one side depicting a scene of several German soldiers mounting an MG08 machine gun in a forest with a biplane in the air overhead. There is a small oval for the soldier’s initials, which we can faintly read as R.K.K..
The case measures 1½ x ¾ x 2⅜”, and comes with an original period matchbox which is still filled to the brim with matches. The matches are by Roland Hӧlzer, a maker with offices in several German states, and the cover features a German knight wielding a sword and horn.
