Original Imperial German WWI M1917 Ledermaske Gas Mask with WWII 1938-Dated German Filter & Canister with Spare Lenses

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a good condition & totally genuine World War One issue German gas mask. This model of Gasschutzmaske (Gas Protection Mask) was introduced in 1917, and was known as the Ledermaske due to its leather body construction. Canvas straps on the back of the mask were used to attach it to the wearer's head. The leather on this example is still soft, and the canvas rigging is in good shape but very worn. There is some whitish residue on some of the leather, but this is likely from age.
The metal eye guards are still intact and complete with original orange tinted lenses and spare lenses in the compartment. This mask appears to have been reused during World War II, as the filter has been replaced by a still-sealed 1938-dated commercial filter. The label on the side of the filter reads:

The label on the bottom of the filter labels the maker as Degea-Einsatz, with some instructions below. The bottom of the filter has the original cover and tab which would be pulled upon first use. The neck carrying strap on the mask is still intact and in good shape. The canvas rigging is still in good shape and will display well.
The canister is in great shape and even retains its original canvas webbing straps and spare lenses in the lid. Overall, this is a wonderful condition gas mask that was definitely field used and is looking great considering it is now 107 years old! Comes ready for further research and display.
