Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very interesting example of an original trench fighting knife, made very much in the style of a "hunting" knife. Instead of the usual ribbed wooden handle, it is fitted with a great stag horn handle with a steel pommel and spacer. The "s-shaped" crossguard is also a bit more ornate than typical, however the blade shape is typical. It comes complete with a scabbard with an original belt loop & securing strap.
The knife has a single edged dagger blade of 6 inches, with a sharpened drop-point false edge on the top of the blade. Overall length is 11 inches. The blade has seen much use but has a lovely patina. It is still relatively sharp, and should be handled with care. The knife is in very good used condition, with a lovely look that is only attained from real field use.
The knife comes in a genuine rolled steel World War One scabbard, which also shows use. It retains the leather belt loop and securing strap with a functional snap/ The snap has the correct diamond pattern seen on WWI Imperial German trench knife scabbards. The leather is cracked but still present.
100% original, a lovely service used example, ready to display in any quality German edged weapons collection.
