  • Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is an outstanding framed portrait of an Imperial German officer, identified on the back of the frame as Oberleutnant Erwin Bubenhofer of Das Württembergische Feldartillerie-Regiment Konig Karl (1. Wurtt.) Nr. 13. The frame itself measures 8¾ x 10¾”, but the soldier attached the planchet and ring of his EKII, Iron Cross 2nd Class to the top of the frame, and used the ribbon in the bottom right corner of the interior, giving it a great look.

The frame is period and makes for a great display piece. The EK II is a bit loose but sits well for display. The back of the frame is inscribed:

    Ober Lieutenant 13 Artillerie. Regiment
    Erwin Bubenhofer. Awarded Iron Cross
Son of Dr. Alois Bubenhofer of Vaihingen
    Württemberg

A great piece, ready for display.
