  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very interesting Imperial German Saxon Police short sword, unit marked on the crossguard L.G.404, for the Land Gendarmerie or Rural Police. The blade is 19 3/4” long with an overall length of 24 1/2”. The blade retains none of its original etching but it is very faint, and there is no maker’s mark we could find.

The hilt has a wire-wrapped sharkskin grip which is mostly retained with some loss along its edge. The original leather blade buffer is retained.

The 21 ⅝” scabbard is in good condition with some scuffing and wear to the leather, and it’s held within a great leather frog, which is maker-marked on the back and dated 1918 or 1919.

A very interesting Imperial German sword, ready for further research and display.

    Specifications:
    Overall length: 24 1/2”
    Blade length: 19 3/4”
    Scabbard Length: 21 5/8”
