Original Imperial German WWI Era Miniature "Salesman's Sample" Edged Weapons with Scabbards - Lion’s Head Sword & 1870 Prussian Infantry Sword

Item Description

Original Items: Only One Set of Three Available. These are some very nice examples of "Miniature" German Edged weapons, which have been observed from several different makers. Often referred to as "salesman samples", there is definitely debate over the purpose of these miniature daggers, which are quite useful as letter openers as well. They are constructed much as the full size daggers, but the idea of a miniature dagger to be used as a sample by sales staff seems somewhat suspect, as the real thing isn't excessively large.

These examples appear to be WWI period, but could be later

This lovely set consists of the following items:-

- One Miniature Lion’s head officer’s sword with scabbard, field artillery cannons on one side of the chape, red blade buffer retained. 8 7/8” in overall length with a 8¼” scabbard. Scabbard retains both rings.
- One Miniature 1870 Prussian officer’s sword with scabbard. Lovely straight blade with red blade buffer retained. Scabbard retains one ring. 8¾” in overall length with 7⅝” scabbard.

Please consult the pictures for condition details. A great set of miniature German edged weapons, ready to research and display!
