Original Imperial German WWI Era Lesser Coat of Arms of the German Emperor - 20 x 16"

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely yet interesting example of the Lesser Coat of Arms of the German Emperor. The eagle on the center is an odd variation with the lower beak on the face never having been present, all embroidered on an orange field. The coat of arms of Germany displays a black eagle with a red beak, a red tongue and red feet on a golden field, which is blazoned: Or, an eagle displayed sable beaked langued and membered gules. This is the Bundesadler (German for "Federal Eagle"), formerly known as Reichsadler (German for "Imperial Eagle"). It is one of the oldest coats of arms in the world, and today the oldest national symbol used in Europe.

This example is in wonderful condition with all colors still vibrant and the embroidery appearing to still be totally complete. The gold bullion wire twist present on the edges gives the flag a lovely fringed appearance. There is some loss to the bullion as expected with age and wear.

A lovely banner that comes more than ready for further research and display.
