Item Description
Original Item. Only One Available. This is an absolutely stellar WWI Medal Bar with seven Imperial German medals for service during World War I. This amazing piece has an original tag stitched to the back for the mounter who put this together for the soldier, which reads ZAPF Kassel Kölnische Str. 12, for a mounter with the last name Zapf in Kassel, Germany.
The medals on the bar include:
● Imperial German WWI Iron Cross 1914 2nd Class Medal.
● Imperial German WWI Honor Cross of the World War 1914/1918 (Hindenburg Cross) Medal with Swords (for combat).
● Imperial German Prussian Officer’s Long Military Service Cross for XXV (25) Years.
● Imperial German Prussian Military Honor Medal 2nd Class 1814.
● Imperial German 1st Class Long Service Cross for XV (15) Years.
● Imperial German “Centenary” Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Medal made from captured Franco-Prussian war cannons.
● Reichspräsident Paul von Hindenburg silver Medal, Commemorating the withdrawal of British troops from the Rhineland in 1926.
This is a fantastic medal bar which doesn’t have any of the often found 3rd Reich issued medals given to veterans besides the Honor Cross. These medal bars are getting increasingly difficult to find with all the medals still retained. There is some staining from oxidation on the ribbons which adds to the patina of the medal bar. The bar is still mounted on blue felt with the metal hanging bar still attached with its catch. The maker’s tag makes this an even cooler piece, the first with a tag we have offered! It really doesn’t get much better than this! Comes ready for further research and display.
