Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a good example of a certificate issued to families of fallen Bavarian soldiers during World War I. The poster depicts a Bavarian soldier at a comrade’s grave marker, a cross with wreaths on it and a Bavarian bow. The top has 1914 to the left and 1916 to the right. The left has five lines for the soldier’s information.
This example is for:
DER JNFANTERIST
GEORG
CHRIST
4, Kp. BRIG. ERS. BTL. 9.
AM 4.3.1915.
This denotes the soldier, Georg Christ, was in the 4th Company, Brigade, Ersatz Battalion, and fell in action on March 4th, 1915. The right side reads 1916, “Honor to his memory, an example and role model to the future generations”.
The certificate measures 22 ½ x 25” and has some tearing to the right side and overall wear and tears along the edges. There is also some staining but the color is retained well. This example would look great in a frame.
Ready to frame and display.
