Original Imperial German WWI Bavarian M1907 / 1915 Einheits Feldmütze Field Cap- Late War/Ersatz
Item Description
Original Item: Only one available. This is a scarce example of the classic Great War Imperial German Field Cap (Feldmütze or Krätzche). It is a very late war example, made of course, cellulose (wood pulp) rich, ersatz Feldgrau wool. It is a Bavarian Model constructed solely of of grey/green "Feldgrau" wool, omitting the red band and trim, with an interior off-white linen lining. The front of the cap bears a Black, White and Red Reichskokarde (Imperial Cockade) on the front of the crown (appears to be resewn). The state cockade is unfortunately missing.
The cap is in very good used condition, with the expected wear and tear from having been through The Great War. There is some obvious moth damage, and slight discoloration, but it still presents very well. The interior lining is in very good shape, with a illegible faded depot stamp or possibly a regimental marking. Size is approximately US 7 (56cm).
A wonderful text book genuine example, and one of the very few of these super late war Feldmutzes we have ever encountered!
