Original Item. Only One Available. This is a great WWI period German artillery crate meant to store and transport different parts of artillery shells. The crate measures roughly 17½ x 11 x 8” and has two long metal carrying handles on the sides, with two metal securing buckles on the front.
The interior lid is marked with what is to be stored in each section of the crate. The markings and their translations read as follows:
6 Aelbzündschrauben darunter 3 Zünderkappen
6 Aelb ignition screws including 3 ignition caps
2 Zünder
2 Detonators
3 Zünder
3 Detonators
Treib und Zusatzladunger
Propulsion and additional charger
Some of the translations may not be exact, but it’s easy to understand the meaning. The lid is split as shown but the box is still in good shape overall. The metal fittings all still function as intended. A lovely display piece for any WWI German collection.
Comes ready for further research and display.
