Original Item: Only One Available. Infantry mess kit of the German M1915/17 pattern, made of steel and enameled in field grey. Consists of five pieces:
- Upper lid which can be used as a messing bowl which is nicely marked Silesia 16 (1916). The lid section is equipped with a folding steel handle fitted with an equipment strap loop. This handle, when in the lowered position, secures the lid to the lower section using a friction fit. When removed from the kit, the handle folds back to allow the lid to be used as a bowl.
- Lower food container which is nicely marked Silesia 17 (1917). The lower section is fitted with a swiveling wire carrying handle.
- Drinking cup nicely marked Silesia 16 (1916).
- Two Imperial German Fork And Spoon Combination utensils.
Overall condition of the kit and contents is very good. These tin enamel kit with maker markings and dates are very difficult to find and this one is a wonderful example.
