Original Imperial German WWI 1914 Iron Cross Christmas Cookie Tin with Central Powers Flags on the Sides

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely Imperial German WWI "Christmas Cookie Tin", with printed decorations on the outside and a hinged lid on the top. The rear of the lid is marked MUSTER GESCHÜTZ (Pattern Protected), indicating that the design was registered at the German trademark office. A great example of German WWI manufacture.

The tin is decorated on the outside with very nice tan checkerboard pattern, and Christmas holly leave wreaths and borders. In the center of the lid is an illustration of the Prussian 1914 Iron Cross Award, while the wreaths on the side show the colors/flags of the four "Central Powers" of WWI. These would be the German Empire (Black, White, and Red), The Tsardom of Bulgaria (White, Green, and Red), The Austro-Hungarian Empire (Black and Yellow), and Ottoman Empire (Red with a White Crescent and Star).

The tin measures 8" x 5 1/4" x 3" tall, and still closes securely. The exterior is in great shape, with some rust staining in the interior. Unfortunately the cookies are all eaten. A really nice collector's item from WWI.
