Original Item. Only One Available. This is an interesting Pre-WWI era brass candle lantern, which shows a very high level of construction. Constructed of stamped and bent sheet brass, this lantern has a single window to the front which is removable, with hinges on both sides and interestingly on the handle. When folded it becomes very portable. The lantern likely dates to the 1880s or 1890s.
There is no candle present, but a screw at the bottom for which the candle would screw onto. There is heavy tarnishing to the brass which shows a lovely rainbow hue when light hits it. When fully extended, the lantern measures 13 ½ x 4 ¼ x 4 ¾”.
The back of the lantern has butterfly handles under a small maker’s mark, R.A. in a circle. We have been unable to identify this maker.
A great example, ready for further research and display.
