  • Original Item. Only One Available. Charlemagne (2 April 748 – 28 January 814) was King of the Franks from 768, King of the Lombards from 774, and Emperor of what is now known as the Carolingian Empire from 800. He united most of Western and Central Europe and was the first recognised emperor to rule from the west after the fall of the Western Roman Empire approximately three centuries earlier. Charlemagne's reign was marked by political and social changes that had lasting influence on Europe throughout the Middle Ages.

This is a lovely Pre-WWI period Imperial German porcelain candy dish in the shape of the bust of Charlemagne. It separates horizontally to reveal the delicious candy inside, which is currently not present. There is some staining and overall wear, but no serious cracking we can see.

There are some markings on the bottom, the number 15 in paint and the number 2948 inscribed into the mold. This may have been made by Rosenthal. It measures 3 ¾ x 2 ⅜ x 3 ⅝” when closed.
