Original Item: Only One Available. A fine example of a late 19th Century- Early 20th Century German-Made Court Sword by the Solingen firm of Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Company. The sword itself mimics the appearance of the classic British Model 1796 Officer’s Sword, which traditionally was a very popular design amongst the European market for decades.
The Sword features a beautiful etched blade, with each side exhibiting scrollwork and military motifs extending halfway up the blade.
The blade is marked on the ricasso with the double trademark "Knights's Helmet" (Ritter-helm) alongside a "Kings's Head" (königskopf) logo of legendary German maker Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Cie of Solingen. This trademark is used on privately purchased blades and walking out bayonets from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and is absolutely correct for this sword. For more information please see J. This would be the retailer of the sword. Hilt is constructed of heavy brass, and is fitted with a half folding guard. The braided wire wrap is nice and strongly intact. The red felt scabbard buffer at the ricasso is intact. Overall exhibiting a very pleasing patina. The sword and blade are very tight, with virtually no wiggle at all.
Original brass-mounted leather scabbard is included, which features a long frog button. The finish is coming off a bit.
