Original Imperial German Double Etched Prussian Fire Officials Dress Dagger with Scabbard

Original Item: Only One Available. Here we have a lovely Prussian Fire Official's Dagger / Dirk with scabbard, made around the turn of the century in what was then the German Empire. Formed in 1871 with Prussia as the leader, the new empire reached new heights of ceremonial decorations, for all types of military and civil stations.
This example is typical, with nickel-plated brass fittings, and a leather covered wooden handle, wrapped with wire. The crossguard is engraved with a combed fire helmet over crossed axes, a timeless firefighting emblem. The leather on the grip has degraded somewhat, but otherwise the hilt is in excellent condition, with the wire wrap still in good shape.
The blade is nickel plated, and has lovely etched panels on both sides of the blade, although they are very faded now. On one side there is a ladder, axes, and helmets, while the other side shows hoses, forks, and pikes. These are between lovely foliate designs, and are definitely the types of motifs you would expect on a Fire officials dagger.
The nickel finish is very well retained, with the usual runner wear and some light oxidation near the tip, where the plating is most worn. The nickel-plated brass mounted leather scabbard is in great shape with most of the finish on the leather retained. Both suspension rings are well-retained.
