Original Hungary Cold War Era Hungarian Inert Anti-Personnel PGR Rifle Grenade - American EOD Cutaway Trainer

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely example of a hard to find Hungarian rifle grenade. The grenade was rendered completely inert by an American EOD team for training purposes. The grenade is unable to be rendered live again to be used as an explosive device and is in total compliance with the current BATF standards on inert ordnance.

A rifle grenade is a grenade that uses a rifle-based launcher to permit a longer effective range than would be possible if the grenade were thrown by hand.

The practice of projecting grenades with rifle-mounted launchers was first widely used during World War I and World War II and continues to the present, with the term "rifle grenade" now encompassing many different types of payloads including high explosive, fragmentation, anti-tank warheads, concussion, smoke, incendiary, and flare missiles.

Rifle grenades have largely been supplanted in the infantry fire support role by a combination of grenade launchers (typically affixed to rifles) and disposable anti-armor rockets.

This is definitely a hard to find example. Most, if not all examples out on the market are the PGR training grenades. This is not a training grenade, this is a lovely “live” example that was cut by an EOD team for recognition and training purposes. The grenade is marked on the warhead with PGR / 1-77-33. The construction is all steel except for the fins, they are made of a hard durable plastic.

A seldom seen example ready for further research and display.
