Original German WWII Wood Handle Trench Fighting Knife with Steel Scabbard

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Fitted with a single-edged clip-point blade, this is an original fighting knife used by the Germans in WWI and then again in WWII. In nice used condition, this knife has a smooth wooden grips. Grip scales are in good condition, with no cracks or major chips, and a nice color. The blade is full length on the bottom of the blade, while the top has a false edge. The blade has been used, but is still quite sharp and in solid condition, with no edge nicks, just some light wear and staining. The factory cross grain can be seen throughout the blade. Overall length is 10 3/8 inches with a 5 7/8 inch blade. No markings are present on the ricasso, which is standard.

The knife comes in an genuine rolled steel scabbard with a leather belt loop. This scabbard may be a reissue from WWI, where this was the usual type of scabbard used. Later scabbards had steel clips which could be used on either a belt or a boot. The scabbard is in good condition, though it does have some damage on the tip and at the throat from wear. Also the black enamel finish is probably only 40% present, with a lot of wear.

No visible markings but 100% original, a very good example for display in any quality German edged weapons collection.
