Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fantastic example of an extremely rare and period original painted Desert Camouflaged M38 Gas Mask canister, as used by German troops during the various desert campaigns of WWII. The tan paint is retained very well with just the right amount of wear present on the ribbed body. This is by far one of the best DAK M38 camouflaged canister we have come across.
The carry case is a Long Model 1938 Wehrmacht type, which was introduced to house the stiffer M38 gas masks. It has the original metal inner sleeve, but not the Reinigungslappen (Cleaning Rag) , only the Lappenhalter (Rag Holder) spring is still present. The can is in very good original condition, and does appear to have had at least 1 field repaint done which is obvious as it’s now tan. The spare lens insert compartment still has the original retaining spring and a set of 1943 dated lens inserts. The straps are still present and in a worn condition but still solid.
Comes more than ready for further research and display.
