Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Entertaining the troops, a constant problem in WW2 in the lengthy stalemates throughout the early part of the war. In no time boredom set in and in those days there was no television!
Here is one way the Germans tried to keep the front line troops spirits up. Military issue accordions, what are often called a Squeeze Box, in the hands of a good player almost an orchestra all on its’ own.
Here is a well-known German prewar production accordion in the typical glitzy style of the 1920s and 1930s. Bakelite or early plastic boxed instrument in a sickly mottled lime green with fancy sound grill in silvered metal and 25 keys (10 black and 15 white) on the fingerboard. Comes complete with carry and over the shoulder leather straps for playing and is marked:
A really nice compact unit contained in the original hard sided leatherette covered carry case that you would imagine might contain a WWII period typewriter. The case with carry handle and keyed lock bears a permanent 4-inch by 1 inch plaque reading:
(PROPERTY ARMED FORCES)
The instrument is in lovely working order and condition complete with original case that shows some minor wear and storage, a nice memento from the German front, ready to play and display.
