Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice example of a 30Ah capacity Panzerhandlampe (armored hand lamp) which was used as a mobile landing strip light for the Luftwaffe and as a mechanics light for repairing planes, armored vehicles and even tanks. Due the sturdy construction they were very durable, definitely important when being used in the field. Most examples we see are Luftwaffe marked, but this one is not, increasing the chances that it was used with armored vehicles.

The hanging hook is sturdy and the glass bulb cover is undamaged. The steel case shows surface rust and age but overall is in very good condition. There is also some dirt and other deposits from age and storage. It is nicely marked on the side of the bottom with the specifications:

This gives specifications for the lamp, and translates to:

Capacity: 30Ah
Charge: 8 hours at 6 amps
Filling: Potassium hydroxide density 1.2

The other side of the base has what we believe are maker markings and other codes, including 1 in a triangle over 14/4629, and GLZ on a lightning bolt. We unfortunately have not been able to identify these markings.

The lamp head unscrews, but it is frozen and we did not want to force it open. Battery appears to still be inside due to the weight, which is 9.5lbs. We do not know if it is currently functional Offered in very good condition a rare piece that is hard to find on the collector’s market.
