Original German WWII Wehrmacht 1942 Dated Heavy Burlap Ration Grain Sack marked MVA Kiel - 41 1/2" x 27"

Item Description

Original Item. Only One Available. Made from heavy burlap cloth, this is a German WWII Issue Wehrmacht Ration Grain Sack, measuring approximately 44 1/2"H x 28"W when flat. A steady supply of food was vital to any fighting force, and sacks were the preferred way of transporting grain, which has not changed much since WWII. The bag has a large stenciled Wehrmachtadler (Armed forces eagle) on one side, while the other gives information about where it was issued or possibly made:

M V A
Kiel
1942

This is a marking that we have not seen on one of these ration bags before, all of which were Heer Army issue. Given that Kiel was one of the major harbors and shipyards of the Kriegsmarine, it is possible that this was intended for Navy Issue. There is also a faint A V M over the eagle on the other side, as well as a few other faded stamps. Definitely some nice potential for further research.

Condition is very good, especially considering the age, with the expected light staining and wear from use. Unlike most we see, there are no tears or repairs, just some minor fraying at the top, making this very good example!

A very interesting piece of German WWII militaria, ready to display!
