  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is an excellent original German WWII Wehrmacht vehicle battery warming wick lamp, or Dochtlampe zur Sammleranwärmung, dated 1943. These compact petroleum-burning heaters were intended for cold-weather vehicle operation, where they could be used to warm the vehicle’s storage battery or related components and assist with starting in severe winter conditions.

The base of the heater is marked with a 1943 date of manufacture. The wheel on the side controls the length of the wick, which is retractable and in great shape. The outer shell is stamped and embossed:

    KEIN BENZIN
    ODER BENZINHALTIGEN
    KRAFTSTOFF VERWENDEN
    BRANDGEFAHR!

The unit measures 7½” tall when closed with a 3⅜” base diameter.

The combination of the 1943 date, original adjustable wick assembly, removable protective cover, distinctive German fuel warning, and specialized vehicle-heating purpose makes this an excellent example of Wehrmacht cold-weather automotive equipment. Rather than a general field stove, it represents a practical solution to one of the recurring mechanical problems faced by German vehicle crews operating in severe winter conditions during World War II.
