Original German WWII USGI Captured and Dated Wehrmacht Heer Army Camp Flag - 23" x 27"

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a totally original authentic German WWII Wehrmacht Heer Army Camp Flag, measuring a modest 23" x 27". It has a thin twine halyard inside of the header, which is sewn over to make loops on each end, which have metal spring clips installed. The flag was captured in the field, and then looks to have been sent home as a souvenir of war, as indicated by the words WAR - TROPHIES written at the top.

It looks like at one time this flag had numerous badges attached to it, as indicated by the many sets of double holes. Most were removed, however there are still three officer rank "pips". It also has a lovely personalization on the white circular field on the right:

taken in Frankfurt
March 25 - 45

The design is of the camp flag is essentially a smaller version of the standard NSDAP party flag, with a large Swas (Hook Cross or Swas) in the center of a white circle on a red field. This example looks to be made of linen or cotton, the standard materials for flags of the period.

Condition is very good, with the expected age toning, and some small holes torn, in addition to the ones from the removed badges. There is also some water staining on the white field. The construction is multi-piece, with sewn on white circles on each side, so the flag displays correctly from either direction.

A very nice small USGI Captured German flag, ready to display!
