Original German WWII USGI Bring Back Grouping in Named Wood Transit Chest - 1st Infantry Division
Item Description
Original Item: One-of-a-kind Grouping. Private Harold G. Webster ASN 42215708 from Spencerport, New York enlisted on June 7th, 1945 and was sent to Germany for occupation duty as a member of the 1st Military Police Company of the 1st Infantry Division. According to family members he sent home dozens of "gift boxes" which were stuffed with war trophies which he had bartered, purchased, found and taken after the fall of the Third Reich. He passed away in 2016 as can be found in his obituary at this link. This box was acquired directly from the family and contains the original genuine WW2 German military contents. Included in the wood transit chest are the following items:
- Original German WWII Carl Zeiss U-Boat Kriegsmarine Marked 7x50 Binoculars offered in good condition with operational optics (a tiny but cloudy but useable).
- Original German WWII Luftwaffe M43 Winter Field Cap offered in excellent condition in approximate size 7 US.
- Original German WWII Red Cross Hewer with leather frog offered in good condition.
- Original German WWII HJ Knife with very nice blade and no maker mark. The enamel HJ insignia is cracked. The original leather frog is still intact with a working snap. Overall condition is good with an excellent blade.
- Original German WWII Heer Army 98k Rifle Short Dress Bayonet by Seilheimer Paul (PS), of Solingen in excellent condition with brown leather frog which has some damage above the bayonet stud hole.
- Original German WWII Gold Mother’s Cross in Case by C.F. Zimmermann of Pforzheim offered in very good condition.
- Original German WWII SA Wehrmannschaft Armband with RZM Tag in fair condition.
- Original German WWII Volkssturm Cotton Armband in lightweight cotton in very good condition.
- Original Italian WWII Small Royal Navy Flag that measures 16.5" x 9.5" offered in very good condition and constructed of cotton.
- 2 Original German WWII Luftwaffe coffee saucers or small plates (6" diameter) marked with Luftwaffe eagling and Fl. U.V. 1938 and 1939. Offered in excellent condition.
- Original German WWII Panzer book published in 1940 with many great photos of tanks!
- Original German WWII Multi-Piece Construction National Flag Banner that measures 38 inches wide by 96 inches long. It is single sided and appears to have been cut down. it has once 8 inch long rip at the very end. Overall very good condition.
All in all a really neat bring back set collected from German just after the fall of the Third Reich and sent home as spoils of war.
