Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice complete German WWII Funeral Sash, made of the usual rayon partial synthetic fiber moire material. We have had several partial examples before, but this is the first time we have had one that is still complete. These were displayed during funerals for members of the various NSDAP-related organizations, as well as soldiers. During the funeral they would often be draped over a wreath, and after burial were placed on top the plants and flowers placed over the grave. Typically they measured around 2 meters in length, and were double ended, with various organizations marked on the fabric. If it was a sash for a particular subordinate organization like the DAF, that emblem would appear on one end. Both ends would have a bullion fringe.
This example measures 78" x 6 3/4", and is a typical example, made from a red rayon body with fringes at either end. Just above these are two sewn on swas emblems, made from printed oil cloth. The fringes are in good shape, while the emblems definitely show wear, and there is minor fraying to the edges of the sash. We can also see some staining in areas on the sash, so it definitely saw a good amount of use.
A very nice piece of German WWII memorabilia, ready to display!
