Original Items: Only One Set Available. This is a very nice collection of German WWII Insignia & Awards, which was brought back from the European theater by a USGI after the war was concluded. It includes some a wide variety of medals and insignia, including Three Iron Cross 2nd Class awards and two silver diplomatic Order of Merit of the German Eagle awards.
This lovely set includes:
- THIRTY German WWII Era Event Tinnies, both pinback and stick pin style. They cover a wide range of event types, as well as different construction types. During the NSDAP era tinnies were given out at at a multitude of events, many of which were yearly, so there were different ones made every year.
- One Pair of SS-Hauptscharführer (SS-Head squad leader) Rank Shoulderboards, an NCO rank roughly equivalent to Sergeant Major or Master Seargant. They have Russia Braid around the outside, with the correct Two pips. These have Karminrot (Carmine Red) felt backing with intact straps underneath, for securing them around the shoulder loop. This color is the waffenfarbe (corps color) for the SS Veterinary Service. They are in very good condition, and appear to be fully matched.
- One German WWII NSDAP Political National Pennant (Wimpel) measuring about 9" x 14 1/2". It is double sided with hang ties on each end.
- One Industrie und handelskammer zu Halberstadt (industry and chamber of commerce in Halberstadt) medal in its original case. It is marked in the middle with "FÜR TREUE IN DER ARBEIT" (for loyalty in work), and looks to be a workers award from Halberstadt.
- One German WWII Mountaineer Miniature rucksack with Axe and Walking stick. There is also a small ceramic mug attached to the exterior, as well as a cap and some rope. The back rucksack has some words printed on it, which are unfortunately illegible, while the mug states "Hechter Gebirgs-Enzian" (Pike Mountain Gentian Flower). Really adorable.
- One USGI Matchbox, possibly post war.
