  • Original Item: Fascinating brass cigarette lighter made in the engine room of the German WWII U-boat U-1023. Marked With U-boat Logo Of Crossed Hammers, and the Captain's Name- Oberleutnant Wolfgang Strenger with U-1023. The other side is inscribed Weidmannsheil translating to Good Hunting.


    The U-boat U-1023 Was A Kriegs Marine Type Viic/41 U-boat Built In Hamburg By Blohm & Voss And Launched On May 20th 1943. On June 15th Command Was Given To Oberleutnant Wolf Strenger. At War's End The Craft Surrendered At Weymouth, England and was later deliberately sunk by Allied forces In Operation Deadlight.
