Original German WWII Tornister 34 Cowhide Backpack with Shoulder Straps - Dated 1940

Item Description

Original Item. Only One Available. This cowhide-covered rucksack was known as the Tornister Model 34 (developed in 1934) and was later fitted with new style straps in 1939. As the war progressed the design was simplified for economical and practical reasons so the cowhide cover was eliminated making these packs especially scarce on today’s collector market.

This example of a wartime rucksack comes complete with the 1939 issue shoulder straps. It retains 95% of the cowhide and the leather is in very good to excellent condition. The only issue is that the lower loops for attaching D rings have had the stitching pulled away, but this is an easy repair with the correct heavy needle and correct weight thread. Nicely maker marked by LEUNER and dated 1940.

A really nice example of a hard to find backpack as sued by German soldiers in WW2.
